“Circusol” stands for “Circular Business Models for the Solar Industry”. It is an innovation project funded by the Horizon 2020 program of the European Commission. It brings together 15 partners from seven European countries to develop business solutions for the circular economy in the solar power industry.

With the strong growth of the photovoltaic markets, the demand for raw materials and the output of “waste” from decommissioned PV panels will increase. The questions that arise are: How can we ensure that the material aspect of the energy transition is sustainable? How can we avoid creating new environmental challenges while solving existing ones? How can circulatory systems provide real benefits to the environment and to humans while providing financially healthy business models? These are the questions the project CIRCUSOL would like to answer.
